About Me

Hi, I’m Abrielle Kerns, the owner and artist behind Purple Wolf Pottery.

For me, art has always been about connection—a connection to the piece, to the process, and to the people who see themselves in the work. When someone falls in love with something I’ve created, it feels like an instant bond. That piece carries a part of me, and now it becomes a part of them too. That kind of connection is powerful, and it’s one of the reasons I create.

I’ve been making art since I was a child—whether it was doodling on the walls or begging my parents for paint and canvas. Art quickly became my outlet. I had a complicated childhood and struggled in school, but art was the one place where I felt confident, understood, and free. In middle school, a teacher encouraged me to take honors art, and by high school I was taking every art class I could. My art teachers knew me well, believed in me deeply, and even helped me apply for college and scholarships when I didn’t have that support at home.

To be honest, I never thought college was possible for me. My grades weren’t great, and my life felt too unstable. But I earned an art scholarship to the University of Rio Grande—and then something amazing happened. The Art Professor Kevin Lyles wanted me there so much that he connected me with the cross country coach, Coach Willie. Yes… running. Gross. But surprisingly fun. And it also helped pay for my education. The coach gave me a scholarship because he believed in my dreams too. I’ll always be grateful for that unexpected support.

At Rio, I majored in Art Education and took a ceramics class that completely changed everything. I fell in love—with clay, the wheel, the process, the possibilities. The way clay moves, responds, transforms… it felt like coming home to a part of myself I didn’t know I was missing.

I graduated in Spring 2025 with my Art Education degree and a fierce determination to share my art with the world. Earlier that year, I had started working at Earthly Pottery Studio and Dirt Floor Pottery, where I learned even more about ceramics. I stayed on after graduating, and now I’m working full-time at the studio while also creating my own work under Purple Wolf Pottery.

Today, I’m pouring my heart into each piece—mixing creativity, storytelling, and craftsmanship—and sharing that journey with anyone who wants to follow along. Art shaped my life, lifted me up when I didn’t have support, and connected me to incredible people. Now I’m building a place where creativity can do the same for others.

Welcome to the pack. 🐺💜
I’m so glad you’re here.
